Trenton 1887 Doorknob

Cast bronze decorative drum shaped doorknob made by Trenton. Cir. 1887. The top features an incised eightfold sunburst design with decorative borders.  The edge has two textured ridges. Eastlake style. The knob measures 2 1/4"diam. It takes a slightly smaller than standard non-threaded square doorknob shaft.

The knob has a few small scratches, but is in overall very good condition with a nice even deep patina.

Trenton Lock and Hardware Company

Founded in 1866 as the Trenton Lock Co. in Trenton New Jersey. They changed the name to Trenton Lock and Hardware Company in 1875. This short-lived company was only in operation until 1890, but produced quite fine designs.
