Taylor & Boggis Key 6
Steel skeleton key for door locks made by Taylor & Boggis Foundry. The key is stamped on the shaft T&B FDY. Co. 6. It seems to correspond to the Class 179 keys from the 1910 Taylor & Boggis catalogue. The key measures 2 7/8"l with the insert area measuring 3/-4"l. The bit is 16mm long from the top of the pin.It has notches on each side near the top and at the very bottom. It also has a large notch in the bottom center. The shaft is fairly pitted, making the marking hard to read but the pin is in good condition.
This Taylor & Boggis Key 6 is an antique or salvaged item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos are of actual item you will receive.
Taylor & Boggis Foundry
Taylor & Boggis Foundry began in 1875 under the leadership of Harvey Taylor and Robert Boggis. It was located in Cleveland, Ohio. The foundry produced iron cast products and builders hardware. The company throughout its history survived through a number of fires, causing it to relocate multiple times between 1883 and 1945. In 1969, the company was purchased and consolidated under The Ohio Foundry Company. The company declared bankruptcy in 2012.
