Sargent Verona Doorknob

Decorative wrought steel doorknob made by Sargent. Verona design. Cir. 1901-1910. The doorknob is made of steel with a dark coppery finish remaining on most of the surface. It features a threefold floral type design. The doorknob measures 2 1/4"diam. It takes a standard sized non-threaded square shaft.  The doorknob has a small area of rust on the edge.

Sargent

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
