Sargent Vernon Door Plate Nickel

Sargent Vernon Door Plate Nickel Heavy cast brass door plate with nickel plating made by Sargent & Co.. Cir. 1926. Vernon design. It features top and bottom  shaping with a heavy frame and decorative leaf elements at the center of the top and bottom. The entire face surface has a slight texture.  The door plate is marked on the back Sargent & Co. The door plate measures 7 1/2"h x 2 1/8"w.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
