Sargent Mail Slot Cover

Sargent Mail Slot Cover Cast brass mail slot cover made by Sargent. It matches Jamestown design door hardware pieces. Cir. 1922-1926. The cover is one solid piece and measures 7 3/4"l x 2 1/2"h.  It is marked on the back Sargent & Co. 0259 JA. It is in excellent condition, it may have never been used.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
