Door Face Plate. Made of wrought steel with remnants of a bronze finish. "B Design" made by by Sargent. Cir. 1910. The door plate measures 5 1/2"l x 1 5/8"w.  It features an intricate design of swirling leaves. Some rust.

These Sargent B Design Faceplate are antique items and may differ in patina and wear. Many door plates were also available in a variety of finishes. Stock may vary. Photo is to show style and size. Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
