Sargent 1888 Doorknob Cast Iron

Highly decorative cast iron doorknob from 1888. Made by Sargent. It features floral and leaf motifs that extend to the backside of the knob. This design was also available in bronze. The doorknob measures 2 1/2" diam. It fits on a standard sized non-threaded shaft.

Sargent Manufacturing was founded in 1857 in New Britain, Ct. by brothers Joseph, George and Edward Sargent. In 1864 they moved to New Haven, CT. They were a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. Sargent Lock continues today under the ownership of Assa Abloy.
