Russell and Erwin Andros/Thetis Doorknob

Heavy cast bronze doorknob made by Russell and Erwin. Greek inspired with a border of squares and a cross design in the center. Cir. 1909-1930. This doorknob is seen in the catalogue with both the Andros and Thetis design door plates. The doorknob measures 2 1/4"diam. The doorknob takes a standard sized 5/16" square threaded shaft. This indicated it is probably a later version. A shaft that threaded well into it fits best into an M10-1.25. If you would like a doorknob shaft please let us know  when ordering. We may be able to match one up for an additional $5.  The doorknob comes complete with a securing set screw.

The doorknob is in excellent condition with a nice patina.

This Russell and Erwin Andros/Thetis Doorknob is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos shown are of actual item you will receive.

Russell and Erwin / Russwin

Russell and Erwin Manufacturing was established in 1839 in New Britain, CT. under the name of Stanley, Russell & Company. The founders include Henry E. Russell, Cornelius B. Erwin and Frederick T. Stanley. Upon Stanley's withdrawal just one year later, it became Matteson, Russell and Company to reflect a new partnership with Smith Matteson and John H. Bowen. Six years later, the company officially becomes Russell & Erwin. In 1851, it becomes Russell & Erwin Manufacturing Company. They merge with P. & F. Corbin in 1902, but continue to produce under the Russell and Erwin name. American Hardware and Russwin were also brand names used off and on in conjunction with the Russell and Erwin name. By 1964, the division again separated and was purchased by Emhart Manufacturing under the name Russwin. It continues today under the name Corbin Russwin, owned by Assa Abloy.
