Reading Marsala Doorknob

Heavy cast bronze decorative doorknob by Reading. Marsala design. Cir. 1905. Highly detailed radiating floral and leaf decoration on the top. The edge has a unique ribbed design which feels quite nice in the hand. The doorknob is oversized and measures 2 1/2" diam. This was probably the exterior door version. It fits on a standard sized non-threaded square shaft.

There are a few small dents on one area of the edge.

Reading

Reading Hardware began in 1872 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It produced both basic and highly decorative builders hardware. Reading's hardware was used in many notable buildings including the White House in Washington, D.C. The operation closed in 1950.
