Decorative cast bronze doorbell plate made by Reading. Americus design. Cir. 1894. It has intricate shaping at the top and bottom with a scrolling leaf design. The plate measures 7"h x 3 1/2"w. There is a raised area for the doorknob button in the middle. The plate is marked on the back 26032.

Reading Hardware began in 1872 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It produced both basic and highly decorative builders hardware. Reading’s hardware was used in many notable buildings including the White House in Washington, D.C. The operation closed in 1950.
