Heavy cast iron decorative doorknob made by Niles/Chicago Hardware. It has the typical extended base which fits into their unique slotted lock boxes.  Greek design. Drum style shaping on the sides.  Cir. 1905. The doorknob measures 2 1/4" diam.

Chicago Hardware

Chicago Hardware is best known for manufacturing the unique Niles doorknob and lock setup. Hence, it is sometimes referred to as Niles Chicago hardware. Patented in 1878, it was soley produced by Chicago Hardware and is not interchangeable with other brands. The Chicago Hardware Company along with the Niles patent upon purchased by the Barrows Lock Company.
