Niles/Chicago 1905 Doorknob

Heavy cast bronze decorative doorknob made by Chicago Hardware. Cir. 1905.It features a radiating design in the center with an egg and dart border. The doorknob measures 2 1/4"diam. It does not have the Niles specific attachment, so could be used fairly universally with standard lock boxes and door plates. The doorknob takes a standard sized threaded shaft that fits best in an M10-1.25. The knob comes complete with securing set screw.

The doorknob has a nice even light patina and is in very good condition with only minor scratching.

Chicago Hardware

Chicago Hardware is best known for manufacturing the unique Niles doorknob and lock setup. Hence, it is sometimes referred to as Niles Chicago hardware. Patented in 1878, it was soley produced by Chicago Hardware and is not interchangeable with other brands. The Chicago Hardware Company along with the Niles patent upon purchased by the Barrows Lock Company.
