Mallory Wheeler 1882 Rosette

Cast bronze decorative rosette made by Mallory Wheeler. Cir. 1882. It features a sixfold geometric design in Eastlake style.  It has two holes for attachment. The rosette measures 2"diam.

Mallory Wheeler

Mallory Wheeler began in 1834 in New Haven Conn. Under the name Pierpont & Hotchkiss. In 1866 the name changed to Davenport, Mallory & Co., then in 1868 it became Mallory, Wheeler & Co. under John Davenport Wheeler. They made high quality, quite ornate hardware and won a number of awards for their designs. Sargent was a distributor for the Mallory Wheeler Company up until about 1882. The company closed due to bancruptcy in 1913.
