Lockwood Werwick Doorknob

Single doorknob by Lockwood in "Werwick" design. Cir. 1897-1914. Cast brass. It features a fourfold floral design with a nice little outer floral border.  The knob measures 2 1/4" in diameter. The doorknob takes a standard sized non-threaded square shaft. It has a fairly even patina giving it a nice deep gold hue.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
