Lockwood Colebrook Exterior Plate

Exterior door face plate by Lockwood. Gothic inspired "Colebrook" design. Made of wrought bronze with a coppery finish/patina. This design was also available in wrought steel. Cir. 1914. This larger plate was made for the outside of an exterior door. Often it was paired with a normal sized plate for the interior. The door plate measures 9 3/4"h x 2 3/4"w.

Lockwood

Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
