Lockwood Albemarle Doorknob
Single doorknob made by Lockwood. Cir. 1897. Made of cast bronze. It features a fourfold decoration with a japanned background. The knob measures 2 1/4" in diameter. The doorknob requires a slightly smaller, but within standard range non-threaded square shaft.
Medium patina with some light scratching from use on the undecorated surface.

Lockwood
Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
