Enamel Doorknob Set with Hidden Attachment
Set of white enamel doorknobs with cast iron necks and matched pair of cast iron rosettes. The doorknobs have a unique attachment method, patented in 1882 by O. M. Hidden. These types of doorknobs were sold by Union Doorknob. One doorknob has a flathead screw in the center which when tightened pinches two brass pinchers onto the shaft. The other knob is held in place onto the shaft. One side is adjustable to fit doors between 1 1/4"-2" thick measured with rosettes.
The doorknob on one side is slightly oversized at 2 1/2'diam. The other side is the traditional 2 1/4". The rosettes measure 2"diam. They each have 4 prongs on the underside to prevent spinning. The shaft matches the standard non-threaded shaft size, so it should work with any standard lock box.
The doorknobs have some staining and minor scratching due to age.
This Enamel Doorknob Set with Hidden Attachment is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos shown are of actual item you will receive.
