Corbin Venetian var Doorknob
Highly decorative bronze doorknob made by Corbin. Cir. 1885. A variety of the Venetian design with an interesting extended shape. It has a dense interlocking scallop design which carries onto the "underside". Very similar design elements to the Brocade design. The doorknob measures 2 1/4"diam. The doorknob fits onto a standard size square non-threaded shaft.
The knob is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina where all of the detail still stands out.
This Corbin Venetian var Doorknob is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos shown are of actual item you will receive.
Corbin
P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900's including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
