Cast bronze decorative door plate made by Corbin. Gothic design. Cir. 1881-1985. Highly decorated and shaped with geometric and floral design elements in Eastlake style. The door plate measures 8"l x 2"w. The back is stamped 2765 2767. There is some wear due to age. The patina is somewhat variable over the surface, but would polish up nicely if desired.

Corbin

P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900's including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
