Corbin Brocade Doorknob var.

Highly decorative bronze doorknob made by Corbin. Cir. 1885. Brocade design. This design was available in a few different versions. This is the rounded version with a squared edge. It features a dense flower petal-like design over most of the surface with a concave center with a flower. The rest of the top is convex. The petal design continues on the underside of the knob. The edge is similar to that of the drum shaped knob and has a textured middle. The doorknob measures 2 1/4"diam. The doorknob fits onto a standard size square non-threaded shaft.

The knob had a dark patina. It has a few very small old dings on the edge but is in overall very good condition.

This Corbin Brocade Doorknob var. is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos shown are of actual item you will receive.

Corbin

P&F Corbin was founded by brothers Philip and Frank Corbin in New Britain, CT. in 1851. Interestingly, Philip previously worked for the company that would become Russell and Erwin, which Corbin would merge with in 1902. It ran with a number of subsidiary companies in the 1900's including Corbin Cabinet Lock Co., Corbin Screw Company and even a Corbin Motor Vehicle Corporation! Corbin is still in business today under ownership of Assa Abloy under the name Corbin Russwin.
