Pair Chicago Design 444 Door Plates
Pair of cast iron door plates with bronze plating made by Chicago Hardware. Cir. 1895. They are oval in shape. This design was offered in a few different sizes. These measure 5"h x 1 1/2"w. The plates are marked IRON on the back. They have a dark patina but the plating appears to be mostly intact.
This Pair Chicago Design 444 Door Plates is an antique item and may show wear due to age. This may include scratches, pitting, patina, finish loss, rust or other general wear. We attempt to include any significant damage beyond regular wear within the description. We make every effort to clean as much paint, dirt and rust off of items while still leaving as much of the original patina as possible. Photos shown are of actual item you will receive.
Chicago Hardware
Chicago Hardware is best known for manufacturing the unique Niles doorknob and lock setup. Hence, it is sometimes referred to as Niles Chicago hardware. Patented in 1878, it was solely produced by Chicago Hardware and is not interchangeable with other brands. The Chicago Hardware Company along with the Niles patent upon purchased by the Barrows Lock Company.
