Semi-decorative door plate made by Branford. Cir. 1893. The door plate is rounded at the top and bottom with a scalloped design along the rounded edge. The door plate is made of cast iron. It measures 6 3/4"h x 2"w. It is marked on the back 2 1/4. Small amounts of rust residue/pocking.

 Branford Lock Works

Branford Lock Works began in 1852 as Squire and Parsons Manufacturing Company after a failed stove business left the factory in Branford, CT. available for lock making. The company was purchased in 1862 by Thomas Kennedy and incorporated as Branford Lock Works in 1865. In 1894, Yale & Towne purchased the company. In 1910, a strike consequently closed the plant and operations moved to the Yale and Towne headquarters in Stamford, CT.
