Lockwood 1894 Doorknob
Single doorknob by Lockwood. Cir. 1886-1894. Seen in the Lockwood section of the 1886 Nashua catalogue and Lockwood's 1894 catalogue. Cast bronze. Double sided decoration with a fourfold floral and leaf motif over a textured background. The knob measures 2 1/4" in diameter. The doorknob takes a standard sized non-threaded square shaft.
Even light patina with one small dark area on the edge.

Lockwood
Lockwood Hardware Manufacturing Company began in 1878 under Henry Sanford Lockwood and Henry W. Lester. In 1889, Lockwood purchased the Nashua Lock Company. After suffering a bit of decline due to the Great Depression, the Independent Lock Company (ILCO) absorbed Lockwood. In 1934, an Australia branch began which continues to this day The company was later reincorporated under the original name. It continues today as Lockwood under the Assa Abloy Group.
